Heatwave Blackout Health: Staying Safe When Cooling, Water and Communications Fail

A hot-weather blackout can remove fans, refrigeration, lifts, communications and sometimes water pressure at the same time. Heat risk rises fastest for people who already struggle to regulate temperature.

Identify the coolest room, maintain drinking-water reserves, keep power banks charged, know which medicines need special storage and decide where vulnerable household members could relocate. The strongest heat plan is made on an ordinary day, not after the indoor temperature has already become dangerous.
